Tata Motors' 2022-23 (FY23) January-March quarter (fourth quarter, or Q4) results were better than Street estimates, with strong showing across Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), as well as commercial and passenger vehicle businesses in the domestic market. The company posted its highest consolidated top line and operating profit, with growth of 35 per cent and 46.5 per cent, respectively, over the year-ago quarter. While the top line was aided by a 49 per cent growth in the JLR unit, all key segments reported margin expansion.

The March quarter (Q4) of the ongoing financial year (FY23) may see cement companies report better financial numbers as input costs ease, pricing action resumes, and cement demand remains firm. While companies have been cautiously optimistic about their outlook, analysts and sector experts remain bullish. In its latest report on the cement sector, brokerage IDBI Capital said that it expected earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) per tonne for cement companies to improve by Rs 200-300 sequentially in Q4.

On the third anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, family members of the four missing fishermen abroad Kuber, the boat hijacked by terrorists, have requested the Maharashtra chief minister to provide financial assistance to them. The Gujarat Fishermen Association has demanded aid to the kin of the fishermen, saying it had raised the demand soon after the attack and had even requested the then chief minister Ashok Chavan to consider their pleas on sympathetic grounds.
